To this day, the slightest memory of a popular childhood haircut is enough to make us cringe. Some people just don't look cool with an ultra-precise bowl cut and too-short bangs. Who would've thought that, decades after, we would actually consider recreating what used to be a chill-inducing time?
Let's examine the evidence: A few celebrities have recently jumped the gun and revived the micro fringe look, and on them, it definitely appears a lot cooler than we remember it on ourselves.
Bela Padilla, for example, debuted her baby bangs in April and instantly halted our scrolling.
Sue Ramirez then transformed her locks a month after, wearing mini bangs with a summer-appropriate lob and a fresh two-toned dye job.
Meanwhile, Kim Jones completed her hair transformation just this week. She's already been rocking the trend since February, but she took it even further by going full on ice blonde.
Come to think of it, we should've seen this one coming. Flashback to two seasons ago at Moschino, Gigi Hadid walked down the runway in this blonde retro wig. Its short, choppy bangs prevented the bob from looking extra dated.
The season after that, a grunge version greeted us at Alexander Wang. His set of micro fringes and dye jobs weren't for the faint of heart, but nevertheless, we were into it.
In case you need more inspo, you can even check out top models and IRL friends Fernanda Ly and Yuka Mannami. Both ladies can rock matching short fringe in contrasting hues, and they're adorable—more proof that micro bangs are as versatile as any other 'do with a forehead cap.
