AZ Martinez has never been one to shy away from conversations about beauty and cosmetic enhancements. She openly admitted to getting a nose job when she was 18, and now, at 23, she continues to share her experiences and advice with those considering similar procedures.

During a recent guest appearance, AZ opened up about seeing photos of herself before surgery and discussed how cosmetic enhancements remain a taboo topic in the Philippines.

Why Pre-Surgery Photos Are “Very Important” to AZ Martinez

AZ appeared in Episode 22 of Chika Cart, where she was asked, “Napipikon ka ba tuwing may nagpo-post ng mga older photos mo?” The actress and pageant queen immediately said no, explaining that the procedure didn't drastically change her appearance anyway. “I think everyone goes through a glow-up stage,” she said. She added that undergoing rhinoplasty was also part of becoming more conscious of how she presented herself.

For AZ, looking back at old photos brings back memories, which is why they don't bother her. “Ang dami ko ring achievements when I was younger. Yung mga photos na yun, ayoko rin i-let go. [They’re] very important to me.” Many of these photos were also taken when her late father was still alive, giving them even greater sentimental value.

The Red Crown star then shifted the conversation to a broader discussion about beauty and cosmetic enhancements. “You shouldn’t judge people for going through enhancements,” she said. AZ also lightheartedly pointed out that such procedures can be physically painful and expensive.

“We should be proud of those who have so much courage for going through that. We should empower them. We should love them more, kasi they’re starting to love themselves.”

For AZ, if cosmetic enhancements help someone feel more confident, it’s a personal decision others should respect and accept.
