It can upgrade your look by a lot.

Ask any young beauty addict what makeup they can’t live without and you’ll find that the rarest answer is "blush." I’ve always wondered why, so I chalk it up to three theories: First, a lot fear it might make them look too tita (as in “blush-on”); second, one only needs to take a short walk outside and reappear with a natural flush (sweat-highlighter as bonus); and third, everybody is a little too obsessed with contouring.

Let me try to debunk these. First, our former beauty editor Agoo Bengzon always said that when you’re feeling sick or tired, wear blush. Did you think rouge was invented to look good in daguerreotypes? Nah, women were just trying to look like they didn’t have the plague. Second, not everybody has a natural flush; some are naturally pale (shoutout to all anemics out there). Third, contouring, but nevermind that—believe us when we say the bronze age is almost over.

Jacquemus Spring 2018

Check out the girls on the Jacquemus 2018 runways— square on the apples of the cheeks, a little across the nose bridge, ideally on skin barely tinted, without an inch of powder foundation. This has already long been a trick to look cute (Korean girls execute this perfectly with their tint obsession), but as makeup evolves, this product you once mistook to be tita does, too.

Hussein Chalayan Spring 2017

It all lies in choosing the right shade. We were taught to match your lipcolor with your cheeks, and as the range of lip shades grow, so does the blush selection, so now we’re spoiled for choice. Go natural: Stick to your skin color as much as possible by going with hues with a brown undertone, like rose, terracotta or even a very light bronzer—no orange, please!
