Vinyl records are trending for their “authenticity” – and at Satchmi Vinyl Day at the Bonifacio High Street amphitheater, the realest moment happened during the DJ set. When The Diegos put the needle on Francis M’s cut, Meron Akong Ano, the master rapper's daughter, Saab Magalona-Bacarro, by the side of the stage, recognized the song and started waving her hands in the air, rapping along to her late father’s words. Her husband and other pals from her band Cheats–part of the band lineup–joined in. Here’s to hoping Satchmi brings more of this realness next year; food trucks and 40% discounts off indie records notwithstanding. Below, some musical highlights from the local music scene's illest and realest: Ang Bandang Shirley, Cheats, Imago, Pedicab and more.
