Ukay-ukay is having a moment right now, and for all the right reasons. Secondhand clothing is a sustainable alternative to purchasing fast fashion, and it's also so much cheaper than your go-to brands. The only thing is, thrifting requires a very special trait not many of us are blessed with: patience!
You'll have to have be extra patient if you want to unearth the best ukay finds that are on-trend and on-brand with your personal style. One YouTuber, however, took matters into her own hands and actually transformed her ukay-ukay purchases into entirely new sets of outfits.
YouTuber Ashley Garcia recently uploaded a vlog showing how she "thrift-flips" items she bought from various ukay-ukay stores. With a handy sewing machine by her side, Ashley first showed how she wanted to transform an oversized button-down (which she bought for only P15!) into a set of coordinates. She also shared how her first try wasn't exactly how she wanted the co-ords to look like, which just goes to show that doing thrift-flips will take some trial-and-error and a dose of patience.
No regrets though, because the end products of Ashley's transformation process were amazing, so it seems that doing thrift flips is actually worth it if youâre patient and creative enough!
