Home, indeed, is where the heart is. It was, to say the least, the ambience one feels the moment she steps into the House of Laurel. Only, it is not quite a residence but a shop that the Laurel family runs.
House of Laurel is home to the family’s clothing business with a number of brands to boot. Rajo Laurel Enterprises (RLE) specializes in made-to-order couture while House of Laurel, Inc. (HOL) is the ready-to-wear (RTW) couture line. Other labels include Rajo, which focuses on designer ready-to-wear; 9 by Rajo! for the hip expecting moms; kids wear brand aptly called Rajito; and Laurel et Ross (LER) that manufactures corporate uniforms. We’re counting years since its birth—with a roster of loyal and well-known clients under its belt—and their “family” is growing.
The legion of brands and big names in the industry notwithstanding, there is something more striking about the House of Laurel. “We’re really family here,” Sam Laurel, Assistant Finance Officer of RLE and HOL shares. “I mean, even if you’re not blood relative, you’re treated as family here. Like for example, Yoya, Cara, Matet and everyone else, they’re like our sisters.”
A stylish family, we say, undoubtedly. “We’re very relaxed in the front but fun and chaotic in the back room,” Venisse Laurel-Hermano, General Manager of RLE and HOL reveals. “I guess it is expected of us to look good because our primary job is to make women look and feel beautiful.”
“One thing we all have in common, though, is our passion for what we do. We love fashion, we enjoy dressing up and that’s what we want our clients to feel, too,” Sam adds. “Rajo [Laurel] would sometimes plan our outfits with us for events and we all get really excited."
