Local retail brand What a Girl Wants did something different for their Spring/Summer 2011 collection–they designed to the styles of five different fashion personalities (dubbed fashionalities) from all around the metro, namely designer and e-tailer Camille Co, model/student Jeff Schapp, and bloggers Kryz Uy, Mikel Rama, and Laureen Uy.
The idea is to release a capsule collection each month with pieces inspired by the featured fashionality. In stores this month is the line in tune with Camille Co, a PEFTA (Preview Emerging Fashion Talent Awards) awardee and the girl behind Co-Exist. The collection is called Homegrown, which features a lot of summer florals, crochet details, linens and light-weight pieces that will be perfect for layering even under the summer sun!
To wager a guess, we think that Jeff Schapp's collection might have a boy-next-door feel, like basic shirts, denims, and funky add ons while Mikel Rama's pieces could be on the structured and clean side; think preppy for men! And as for the ladies, you might expect to see expect graphic prints, bold colors, and sleek silhouettes from Kryz Uy while Laureen Uy's line might incorporate her flair for urban glam and trend mixing!
