April is always a big month for wedding prep at The Peninsula Manila. It's around this time that the grand hotel treats brides- and grooms-to-be to anannual bridal fair, where they can scope out choices for floral arrangements, jewelry design, bridal gowns, photography, cakes and confections, custom invitations, favors, and honeymoon destinations.
The big-ticket event of the bridal fair, though, is The Peninsula Designer Wedding Show, where the country's top bridal couturiers showcase their latest wedding designs. This year, noted designers Cary Santiago, Ivarluski Aseron, JC Buendia, Rhett Eala, Jun Escario, Francis Libiran, Jojie Lloren, Dennis Lustico, Randy Ortiz, Puey Quiñones, James Reyes, and Joey Samson participated in the show, and a final presentation by Candy Dizon for Jul B. Dizon Jewellery capping off the event. Shoe designer Emi Jorge took care of the model brides' footwear.
Among the classically beautiful wedding gowns that are guaranteed to dominate such a show, some unexpected designs were sprinkled throughout the presentation. Joey Samson presented a dainty floral print, while Francis Libiran showed some drop-dead sexy gowns with his trademark linear details and curve-hugging silhouettes. Additionally, James Reyes presented sharp geometric elements, while a Puey Quiñones bride was youthful and flirty in a bohemian ensemble, complete with a sassy turban and oversized bangles.
