Sun’s out buns out! Summer has arrived and it’s time to bring out your bikinis. When it comes to the beach, people tend to focus more on resort wear rather than what to pair with their swimsuits. But this time around, step up your bikini game by getting some inspiration from these celebrities and influencers who stepped out in more than just a towel.
Take a look at how your favorite celebrities and bloggers style their itty bitty bikinis below!
The dune princess
Nadine Lustre rocked a Coachella look during her trip to Dubai. Her warm neutral apparel matches the desert's landscape. Her mesh halter top and loose pants are comfy combinations to relax in the scorching heat, while a mesh halter is a subtle cover up that allows your bikini to peek through. Add some body jewelry to stand out at the beach and for some great Instagram pics.
Bring out the prints
The trendy snake skin pattern’s everywhere at the moment. The print can be seen on skirts, jackets, pants, and different colors of ankle boots. Although the trend can usually be seen for those city nights out at the club, Joanna Eden wore her snake skin skirt to Bondi beach with a matching black hat and bikini to keep all eyes on the animal print.
Dainty in lace
Pia Padre looks like a daydream as she gives us sheer lace envy with a beautiful flared sleeved coverup. Now that summer’s around, finding a '70s inspired white top with lace detailing shouldn’t be too hard to find. Tie the front to turn it into a cropped top that flatters the waistline by subtly cinching it in. Don’t forget to match a pair of tinted shades to your bikini to look like you just came out of a Lana Del Rey music video.
Blue jean baby
If there’s ever a time to experiment with dreadlocks, it’s at the beach! Okay, they may not be your thing, but you can still cop Jessica Yang’s look by wearing a pair of boot cut jeans along with a colorful bikini. Don’t be afraid to go all out with accessories, either. Jessica’s round John Lennon-inspired shades go perfectly with her loud jewlery and red sneakers. Straight out of the disco soul era, her look’s definitely not for a simple day at the beach, but it would definitely work for a pool party; especially one with a theme!
Wear one under a sheer top
It’s still Coachella season and looks are popping out left and right on our Instagram feeds. Victoria’s Secret model, Kelsey Merritt has been keeping us up to date with her outfits that revolve around the general Coachella attire. Kelsey toned down her bikini’s bright pink hues by wearing the cutest star studded sheer top. Maybe lose the jacket and boots if you plan to wear this to the beach, but since this was for Coachella, it certainly didn’t disappoint!
Solenn Heussaff can confidently pull off any look, here she sports some all red swim attire that automatically makes us think of Baywatch. If embodying a character is what you feel like going for, then why not dress up as a character during the prime time of the '80s? The only thing missing are mirrored aviator shades and you’re good to go run in slow motion for that Instagram photo.
The classic white polo
Angela Martinez pulls a monochrome beach look by matching her bikini to her white polo. The classic white cover up is the beach alternative of your boyfriend’s jacket. Sometimes, women just wear it better. There’s something about that woman at the beach effortlessly wearing a loose polo over her bikini. If you want even more coverage, knot the ends to create a cinched shape that will flatter your midsection.
Bring back the straw hat
Alaiza Malinao has a large farmer’s hat on to protect her skin from the harsh rays but let’s be honest, it’s probably because it looks good. The big hat trend was huge in the '60s and somehow hasn’t come back with a bang. Although bucket hats are quite popular right now, Aliza proves that we should bring back big hats! Stick to the earthy feel by putting on some puka shells and neutral sandals to go with your straw hat.
The laidback gypsy
Lovi Poe is living her best life in this photo as she sips on drinks by the beach in Saint Tropez. Steal her look by matching the colored details on your yoga pants with a thin scarf. Lastly, braids and bronze statement hoops complete the gypsy like ensemble that make you look ready for an ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ moment with your girlfriends.
Bucket hat + gym shorts
Ida Anduyan chills back in a pair of bright yellow athletic shorts which we all know are the comfiest beach bum cover ups. The yellow floral pattern on her bucket hat matches her shorts and showcase an overall '90s kid feel. Her round hippie sunglasses are staples that almost everyone and their mom has. Her navy and white striped bikini compliment her floral hat nicely as stripes and floral always exude a fun youthful vibe.
The girl in the green skirt
Nicole Andersson stuns in her vintage aesthetic. She paired some cat-eye sunglasses along with a polka dot bikini which radiates 1920’s classiness . We all know class never goes out of style. Her flowy green skirt is perfect for a night out dancing. Easily transit from the water to the dance floor by slipping into a salsa skirt.
Back to basics
Kimi Juan’s relaxing beach photo showcases the epitome of your standard mesh cover up. We’ve seen our moms and titas wear these classic white mesh cover ups that form a flattering loose silhouette. It’s conservative yet sexy; for a woman who likes to express both. The best thing about white mesh is that you can get a subtle glance of your bikini’s color or pattern without giving away too much.
