Filipino accessory designer, Ken Samudio, has truly come a long way from his humble beginnings as a milliner back in 2008. With a background in Marine Biology and no prior training in design, Ken simply trusted his gut and went all out. In 2011, he joined Preview’s Emerging Fashion Talent Awards, where his name gained buzz among the followers of Manila’s accessory biz.
Last year, he made even more noise when he got into the International Fashion Showcase in London. This was where the Preview baby gained recognition in the global scene from no less than Vogue Italy and its editrix Franca Sozzani.
Since then, Ken has shown his pieces at Milan Fashion Week, become part of Vogue Italia’s emerging Vogue Talents, and gained features in various other publications and blogs in Europe. In a few days, he’ll be flying to attend this year's showcase (he's the first ever designer to be invited for the second time) as well as Pitti Immagine’s prestigious fashion fair in Italy. There, he'll be showing his Spring/Summer 2015 collection called Ecolibrium alongside eight other designers in the Super Talents section. The only Asian, at that.
He may be busier than ever, but Ken Samudio made time to share with us his #feels on the amazing experience as well as a peek at his humble studio. Watch, and learn how to make it in Vogue.
