In a brief interview with Preview, designer Neric Beltran shared the overall vision that shaped the look.
To give the traditional terno gown a more modern and summer-ready feel, the 2024 Best Filipino Fashion Designer honoree opted to incorporate nautical, navy-hued stripes and blooming floral accents into the piece. “The colors were derived from our national flag since the episode of It’s Showtime was for Independence Day,” he added.
The custom creation featured the terno’s signature butterfly sleeves, paired with a sculpted bodice and a floor-length skirt cut into a flared, mermaid silhouette.
At its core, the look was designed to feel light and effortless. To achieve this effect, Neric worked primarily with cotton fabric, complemented by his atelier’s signature use of handcrafted florals. “[There’s] a little peak of red tulle showing in the skirt for an added fun element,” he explained.

Through bold stripes, handcrafted florals, and a contemporary silhouette, Neric's custom creation delivered a festive interpretation of the terno—one that celebrated both Filipino identity and the joyful spirit of the occasion.
