The Fall 2018 presentations saw a lot of surprises. From virtual fashion influencer Lil Miquela invading Prada's Instagram to Queen Elizabeth II sitting front row with Anna Wintour, it's safe to say that fashion shows have become even more interesting lately.
But apart from Fashion Week's high profile attendees, it's the scene-stealers who walked down the runway that are to be held responsible for the extra buzz. Should supermodels be wary of their new catwalk competitions? Below, we round up six unusual model sightings this season.
1. A Baby
Blink and you'll miss the adorable baby who graced Collina Strada's runway! The baby was part of Hillary Taymour's vision of introspection and "learning to love yourself as you leave the naive and youthful state of childhood and enter into adulthood," Vogue.com writes.
Philipp Plein turned his show into a spectacle when he let Victoria's Secret model Irina Shayk walk the runway arm in arm with a robot. Perhaps it's his way of emphasizing how fashion and technology will always go hand in hand as we go into the future? We don't doubt it.
Speaking of bots, Dolce & Gabbana showcased their new bag collection through a slew of drones! But proving that the human race isn't obsolete just yet, D&G sent down human models shortly after their tech exhibition.
Behold, some of D&G's models were even millennial royals. Lady Kitty Spencer (Princess Diana's niece and Princes William and Henry's cousin) walked for the fashion house's eveningwear-only show entitled "Secrets & Diamonds." She walked alongside other royals, including Ladies Violet, Alice, and Eliza Manners (daughters of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland).
5. A Dragon, a Snake, and a Chameleon
Meanwhile, Gucci has outdone itself as creative director Alessandro Michele sent down models carrying a red snake, a green chameleon, and life-like dragons in hand. (Not to mention, the severed heads some of models also carried down the runway!)
Perhaps the cutest and most aww-inducing show we've seen this season was Tod's presentation. Models, including Gigi Hadid, sashayed on the catwalk while clutching their adorable furry friends, an apt move since it's the year of the dog! And while it's not the first time dogs have graced the runway, we're quite sure this won't be the last time either.
