It always excites us to hear about Uniqlo partnering with major brands and designers like Christopher Lemaire, Carine Roitfeld, and Jil Sander. And now, the Japanese retail giant adds renowned British designer Jonathan Anderson to its growing collaborators list. Just recently, it announced the partnership with Jonathan's namesake brand J.W. Anderson for Uniqlo's LifeWear line this fall.
Before collaborating with Uniqlo, Jonathan has already partnered with other retail brands like Topshop. He has also worked with A$AP Rocky, photographer Ian David Baker, and ceramic artist Joanna Wason. A firm believer of design collaborations, Jonathan shares, "I think collaborations are incredibly important in design. I think working with Uniqlo is probably the most incredible template of democracy in fashion."
The said collaboration is said to marry the British design and fit with the functionality that Uniqlo is known for. "When I think of Uniqlo, I think of things in which they are perfectly made. They are reduced. They are something that people have spent a lot of time considering," says Jonathan. "It's nice to be able to do this [so] that my own product can be accessible to anyone on all different levels."
Uniqlo x J.W. Anderson capsule collection is slated to drop this fall.
