This just in: New York-based designer Alexander Wang and Japanese retail giant Uniqlo are collaborating for the second time! While their last tie-up 10 years ago was focused on easy-to-wear casual pieces, 2018's edition sees a line of underwear featuring Alexander's signature sleek take on Uniqlo's innovative Heattech fabric. Exciting!
Alexander said in a press release, “When I look into expanding into additional categories, I seek out partners that really can innovate the product we make and how our fans can access it. Uniqlo is the ideal partner for this collection of innerwear because we share an appreciation of functionality and utilitarianism, and I am thrilled our collaboration has resulted in developing a new Heattech line; the perfect place to pick up from where we left off 10 years ago.”
Yuki Katsuta, Group Senior Vice President of Fast Retailing and Head of Uniqlo, also commented: “Alexander first collaborated with Uniqlo 10 years ago on the Uniqlo Designers Invitation Project. At the time, he greatly impressed me with his ability to identify trends. I hope that consumers can enjoy this new dimension in Heattech, which takes our long-selling line beyond its innerwear origins by augmenting its functionality with Alexander’s inspiring design.”
The anticipated collection will hit stores this fall, launching with can't-live-without basics like bodysuits, T-shirts, leggings, bras for women, and briefs for men. Expect everything done in a range of neutral hues and Alexander’s favorite shade of neon green.
The best part? It's affordable—think priced between US$15 and $40 (roughly P815 to P2170). We can't wait to fill our carts.
