1. Beaded bags
They're the new straw bags, we believe. Your childhood arm candy gets a modern revival all thanks to brands like Shrimps and Susan Alexandria. Beaded bags may have caught our eye in the latter part of the year but we're definitely taking them with us into the new year.
2. Bike shorts
Perhaps the new leggings, bike shorts made a big splash this year as Vetements, Saint Laurent, Off-White, and more designers deemed them to be cool again. Princess Diana certainly knew what she was doing walking around clad in bulky sweaters, thigh-hugging shorts, and sneakers.
3. Big hats
Maximalism meets Parisian chic with Jacquemus' in-demand La Bomba hat. This giant straw hat swept IG with its statement-making wide brim and made bloggers around the world extra creative with their poses.
4. Rattan bags
This was the sure-fire bag of the summer this 2018. Woven rattan and straw bags were the cutest bags to tote around the beach or in the city paired with cool denim cut-offs and linen tops.
5. Acrylic earrings
With tassel earrings reaching the peak of their popularity, we saw the birth of a new and more polished version of a statement earring. Acrylic or resin-made accessorries were cool alternatives to finish your daily looks.
6. Linen
Speaking of summer 2018, linen was the it fabric to wear this past year. And we don't blame you if you're not yet over it. Linen is easy to wear, ultra comfy, and super breathable, too.
7. Barrettes
Another consequence of the '90s revival, barrettes are now spicing up our mundane 'dos.
8. Chunky sneakers
Whether you're a Triple S girl or an Archlight angel, chunky dad sneakers definitely ruled the fashion streets this year for their distressed look and bulkiness that added a cute quirk to your outfits.
9. Suits
This office staple is given new life outside your 9-to-5 schedule. Sparkly and sequinned iterations are popular choices for a night out and short suits even became more popular for a more casual outfit choice.
10. PVC
The PVC trend hit the fshion scene hard as big fashion labels like Chanel debuted clear boots, visors, and bags on the runway. Now, we're wearing transparent everything to give a sleek new spin to our favorite items.
11. Local weaves
Indigenous textiles have made a great stride this year. Remember when Christian Louboutin himself designed and made bags out of local weaves? The spotlight is now shining brighter as more Filipino designers are looking at local textiles and giving them a modern revamp to fit our wardrobes now.
12. Bucket hat
Following the craze over berets and newspaper boy hats, bucket hats also became popular over Instagram this year for its cool vibe that brings back the easy '90s street look.
13. Fanny pack
Belt bags, bum bags, fanny packs, however you want to call them, this hands-free tote became a telling accessory that you've gotten into the street style it crowd.
14. Tiny glasses
We have the early aughts (or maybe the movie The Matrix) to thank for the return of itsy bitsy sunglasses this year.
15. Color
Gone are the days when we're content with black and white OOTDs. This year, color was the biggest mood as maximalism hits its peak. Millennial pink, Gen Z yellow, Neomint, Ultraviolet, Orange, and now, Living Coral are the must-wear colors of the year.
16. Logomania
Logomania stuck around till the final quarter of the year as we've seen the rise of statement logos and monogrammed pieces rule the streets.
