You know a fashion piece has made it big once you start seeing it all over your Instagram feed. Suddenly, that handbag is on every celebrity and influencer's arm, and those shoes are practically on everyone's feet. There have been innumerable instances of the sort, just take Gucci's Marmont belt for example, or Balenciaga's Triple S sneakers. What about Dior's Book tote? Yup, all fabulous designer pieces that have won the hearts of fashion-hungry folk everywhere.
Here, we've come up with a list of possible "It accessories" that you'll be seeing online anytime soon. These are based on current obsessions fondled by influencers, as well as the most promising runway trends from Spring/Summer 2020, what with this season's trends almost reaching their maximum utility. Read up and consider these 2020 fashion trends for your next purchase!
1. Oversized sunglasses
Matrix-style sunglasses were all the rage even way back in 2018, and while it continues to be worn by street style stars now, the Spring/Summer runways point to a literally bigger trend coming your way: oversized sunglasses! Micro sunglasses has had its heyday and it'll be making way for visor sunglasses or shield sunglasses this year, as worn by Rihanna during The Fashion Awards in London.
Aside from these rectangular sunnies, which by the way, can actually protect your skin from UV rays more than those tiny specs could, double bridge sunglasses will most likely become a huge hit as well—the '70s made a big splash on the runways! We spotted Halsey wearing one already.
The Fall/Winter runways had us seeing double, and it looks like the obsession is still at fever pitch. It's totally different from the side packs of 2018 though, as these twin bags are smaller and more wearable. We've already seen Renee de Guzman sport her Chanel waist bag, and Susie Bubble has her own Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette bag.
3. Pointy mules
Streetwear sneakers may have been the piece de resistance this year, but we suspect that sleeker footwear will be all the rage soon. Mules and block heels were also 2019 favorites, but this minimalism will carry over this year in the form of really pointy versions like Balenciaga's iconic knife mules, which now come, by the way, studded with crystals! Gucci's Zumi heels, as seen below, will possibly become a huge hit as well.
4. Maison Margiela Tabi boots
Those who love boots have probably been eyeing these Maison Margiela boots with its quirky, hoof-inspired look. Well, we won't be surprised if it does turn out to be an It accessory because they're cozy, versatile, and very high fashion—perfect for those who want to look modelesque all the time. Mimiyuuuh absolutely adores the boots, and Georgina Wilson also has an affinity for them, too.
5. Anything Bottega Veneta
Ever since Daniel Lee was appointed as the creative director of Bottega Veneta, people couldn't seem to get enough of the lush, minimalist offerings. Countless influencers and street style stars have taken to the Bottega to give their look a sleek, sophisticated touch. The BV Lido sandals and the Cassette bag are among the current favorites, but we're sure more Bottega offerings will become insanely popular, too.
6. Platform shoes
You may be walking a little taller now with those ultra-chunky ugly sneakers, but wait 'til you get a hold of next season's platform pieces. They'll be in the form of sky-high sandals, heels, and even loafer pumps! Quite exciting, right? Check out these current offerings from Saint Laurent and Chloe:
7. Gucci 1955 Horsebit shoulder bag
Yes, Gucci is still pretty big, and we love how the Italian house keeps things interesting by adding vintage, iconic touches like the horsebit hardware and monogram fabric. People have snapped up such classic designs, like the 1955 Horsebit shoulder bag, which we're sure will penetrate Instagram in a short amount of time. What's great about the Horsebit bag is its timeless look that can even be passed down as an heirloom in the future.
8. Shoes with asymmetric straps
Your minimalist nude shoes have met its match. Come spring, minimalism will be defined by skewed-strapped heels in bright hues (neon will be huge next season). Aside from these color-happy offerings, style mavens like Aimee Song have already got in on the trend by wearing sparkly pairs.
