Okay, don't get me wrong. Animal prints are still very much on trend right now. Leopard, snake, and even zebra prints are still popular because there's a sense of timelessness into them. But, we have to admit that their spotlight is dwindling.
Today, all eyes are locked on the barnyard cow print. I know, unusual! It is in its odd popularity and out of the ordinary rise to prevalance that makes this trend all the more precious. We admit the cow print takes a little more bravery and confidence to don, vis-a-vis other animal prints. But a pop of this endearing cow pattern here and there is all you need to update any outfit. Adding a moo print will make your usual 'fits more interesting than usual black-and-white patterns.
On the runways, Burberry, Tory Burch, Dries Van Noten, and Eckhaus Latta were ahead of the curve, already saying howdy to this fun print as early as 2018.
Could it be a happy coincidence that two years ago, musician Doja Cat also released a hit song that could be an ode to cows? The singer and rapper croons, "Moo, moo, moo," before it bops into a sexy, edgy tune as Doja Cat exclaims, "Bitch, I'm a cow." Her lyrics then flex her wide, witty, and apparently deep well of cow-associated rhymes.
Got milk, bitch? Got beef? (got beef?)
Got steak, ho? Got cheese? (got it)
Grade A ho, not lean (not lean)
Got me A1, sauce please
The song, which now has almost 80 million views on YouTube, has become an instant hit, and of course, has turned into a meme. Interestingly, Doja Cat admits finding inspiration for her cow song from a crop top she was wearing that got in the way of her tapping onto piano keys. And yes, the top was cow print-laden. Yeehaw, we've gone full circle!
Following these two phenomena in the internet of things, the world falls in love with the cow print. And it's a lot less difficult to ride this trend, what with the resurgence of cowboy hats, boots, and even bolo ties to match the fashion world's yeehaw agenda.
Now, get moooovin' and proudly exclaim like Doja Cat chants: I'm a cow!
