From fashion to furniture.

An event backed by Filipino craftsmanship and ingenuity, Manila Fame 2019 just opened its doors yesterday to start off their much-awaited three-day showcase. Being the premiere sourcing destination for home, design, and lifestyle products, the ground floor of World Trade Center was teeming with promising brands and businesses that truly deserve larger features in the market. That being said, check out our personal top 10 fashion and furniture picks from this year’s Manila Fame.

1. Island Girl

If you're looking for tropical bamboo totes, woven bags, and practically any summer-ready accessory for your next beach trip, look no further than Island Girl. With its roots founded in Boracay Island, the brand boasts of handcrafted products purely made with local indigenous materials. "Island Girl is a resort brand focused on developing and highlighting natural materials that are found abundantly in the country." Janice Chua, the brand's owner, tells Preview. "So we make trendy, fashionable bags and accessories [using] the natural materials here, and they're all made by hand."

2. Mele + Marie

Quickly establishing its name in both the local and international scenes after making it to the page of British Vogue, Mele + Marie isn’t just about manufacturing statement bags. Each of their designs also has a heartwarming story to tell. “Every product that we make, we conceive with our hearts and from our identities as a family of farmers who grew up in Nueva Ecija. We were very poor but it did not stop us from dreaming and striving,” Marie Oamil tells Preview. “All the bags are with stories. The second collection is what we call the Freedom Collection or our cage bags. They’re see-through so what you see is what you get, no pretenses. It’s for all the world to see who you are. We will not make something that will not impact the lives of the people. There should always be a story of importance of how you can be of a good purpose every day.”

3. Stride Collective

The search for a unique footwear experience ends with the one-of-a-kind designs offered by the brands of Stride Collective. According to their website, this shoe company patronizes and sells a variety of locally made shoe brands. Think Shoe Salon but with Filipino made products. “From exceptional hand-made shoes to uniquely flavored style, we've made it easier to discover and support upcoming local Filipino brands.”

4. Coral Swimwear

Heads up, moms! If you’re still in search of comfortable yet stylish swimwear for both you and your kids, Coral Swimwear is the store to check out. Launched in 2015, the swimsuit brand promises coverage and confidence wrapped up in their finest, flattering swimming gear.

5. Randolf

Cool, grunge pop culture finds a home in fashion with Randolf, a streetwear clothing brand that especially stands out for its eye-catching statement designs. A note-worthy favorite is the Heresy pantsuit, rendered in a bold graphic print.

6. Floreia

Creating modern wearable art that’s also sustainable and ethical is Floreia’s very mission. The brand promises sophisticated accessories that won’t only up your style game but are also environmentally friendly in the long-run. “We upcycle paper products that we then make into fashion accessories,” their Managing Director Katrina Delantar tells Preview. “As of today we’ve already recycled about 30,000 kilos of papers”

7. Sandy Cheeks

Frolic on the beach in bright, body-flattering swim essentials from Sandy Cheeks, which also happens to be proudly locally made. The young (and young at heart) will especially love this brand’s pastel suit collection.

8. Industria Edition

Looking to make over your dull apartment? Industria Edition has a collection of imaginative yet contemporary steel furniture and accessories that will surely have you throwing house parties just to showcase your newly designed, chic bachelor pad.

9. E. Murio Manila

E. Murio Manila specializes in the use of natural materials incorporated into modern home interior designs, perfect for a modern, rustic-themed space.

10. Prado

Prado specializes in intricately designed home décor to accent your home’s walls and ceilings (which you’ve probably left bare for the longest time.) We especially love the subtle sophistication brought about by their wire-made installations.
