Henry Cavill (far right) at The Man from U.N.C.L.E photo call
London has always been the home of exceptional tailoring and homegrown brand Dunhill has a fine history in clothing bad ass men. In fact, it originally catered to drivers and motorcyclists. In 1941 the brand’s founder, Alfred Dunhill, came back to their Duke Street Shop - to work in the rubble - the very next day after the shop was bombed. It’s no wonder the likes of Superman, Henry Cavill, and Mad Max, Tom Hardy would be seen wearing his clothes today.
Let's see how these Englishmen fared, shall we?
Every stylish man knows that a real tuxedo isn’t black – it’s midnight blue. It’s clear why when you see Tom Hardy strutting around the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) in his Dunhill midnight blue mohair tuxedo. The way the satin lapel is executed, the trimmer cut of the suit, and the shorter jacket really gives the suit a modern edge. Outfit would be flawless except for one detail, Mr. Hardy, you should never do up the bottom button.
Henry Cavill came to The Man from U.N.C.L.E photo call at Terrazza Civita in Rome, Italy with a very fashion forward look. Whilst the Dunhill double breasted jacket is an amazing piece, the whole look together seems more of a miss than a hit, it’s bordering on “dad look” territory. The way the double breasted jacket sat on his frame, just didn’t accentuate the physique that sent jaws dropping when he starred as Superman. When going double breasted, get a shorter jacket and make sure it’s super trim at the waist, otherwise it adds bulk to even the fittest guys.
Want to stand out from a sea of tuxedos? Douglas Booth shows us how to do it in this Dunhill olive velvet shawl collar cocktail jacket. Green is a huge trending colour now and a velvet jacket just ups the sexy points. It’s done very well here as Booth uses the jacket as a statement piece, keeping the rest of the outfit subdued with the classic black and white ensemble. The Noah star shows us that there’s no sinking his ship.
