'Cause you still need to look put-together!

You fling open your closet doors in the a.m., only to start your day groaning "I have nothing to wear!" Trust us, we've been there one too many times. To help you through this inevitable rut, we've devised five foolproof fixes to go by, because no matter where you're headed, it's imperative you win the style game.

1. Instead of jeans, wear trousers.

The impact of a pair of trousers versus your trusty denims is instant polish. A neat, straight cut on a casual errand day spells easy elegance, while wearing 'em with more laidback separates—swap your usual button-down for a structured, boxy tee, par example—makes for a cool way to hit the office. Win-win!

2. Go head-to-toe black.

You've heard this before, but you really, really can't go wrong. It's an old rule, so shake it up with new shapes: a power shoulder, a textured fabric, some boots. Shy away from the basics because black in itself is the perfect backdrop for experimentation; you'll end up with just the right cocktail of safe and adventurous.

3. On that note, you can also do monochrome!

Any color is a power color when played right, and monochrome is a surefire way to look effortlessly cohesive. This season, don't be afraid of big, bold brights, but know that softer, ice cream-inspired pastels are a huge trend, too. Taste the rainbow, pretty much, though it's worth mentioning that our faves at the moment are yellow, purple, and firetruck red.

4. Choose your outerwear wisely.

Here's a 200% current way to go! Right now, it's all about either the oversized suit jacket (checked, if you like!) or the long, lightweight trench! Both options will amp up your street style cred by a trillion points.

5. Treat the wrap dress like your new LBD.

Give your fave slip a rest because this ultra-flattering frock is here to work hard. When in doubt, have one at the ready! Now that it's summer, you could always use an extra dose of Parisienne chic wherever and whenever. Très bien.
