'90s babies unite. The hair trinkets that beleaguered you in childhood are back with a vengeance, but this time you'll be welcoming their return with widespread arms (and not a whine of "mom, no!"). They come with the signed and sealed approval of fashion's latest runways and trusted labels, so who are we to argue? These baubles have grown up, too, and you're going to be sporting these throwback 'dos all year long. Keep scrolling for styling inspo, then get creative with braids, buns, and barrettes. Barbie would be proud.
1. Stretch combs
Man, these were an absolute pain to take off. The stretch comb has never looked this good, though, as supermodel sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid for Prabal Gurung Fall/Winter 2018 oh-so-casually demonstrate! In hindsight, navigating those near-impossible tangles would totally be worth it if we knew that rocking them actually came this easy. Simply slick your locks back with a bit of gel for some shine, then slide that stretch comb right in. So neat.
2. Banana claws
Presenting the sharp clutches we'd gladly surrender ourselves to. Who'd have guessed that the humble banana claw, go-to pambahay accoutrement and daster flourish, would get a high fashion makeover care of Alexander Wang's Fall/Winter 2018 collection? According to Alex, they're the new favored finishing touch to a sleek bun. Get with the program!
3. Snap clips
What a tweenage dream. Feel like the sugar-sweet Candy ultimate aughts crush Aaron Carter crooned about in his iconic bop by peppering your no-nonsense braid with a shower of colorful little snaps! If you want to pare back, sticking a clip on either side of your head is cute, too. The options are infinite.
4. Scrunchies
We were naturally pretty taken aback when these objects of unending sartorial debate started becoming Instagram's new-old fave accessory. The past year, Mansur Gavriel's made a seriously strong case for the scrunchie, crafting it in achingly quaint vintage florals and tasteful muted pastels. Dare we say we're totally convinced? Take them up or not, it's your choice, but be prepared to swerve in their lane (come on, that perfectly messy pony is to die for).
5. Elastic headbands
Elastic is fantastic, as Tom Ford and Miu Miu have declared. Stretchy fabric headbands have been weaving in and out of style since the mad, mod, swingin' '60s, but our generation can't help relating it most with the '80s gym bunnies that took it into the next decade. Also, 1995 cult film Clueless' queen bee Cher Horowitz comes to mind, and that's always a good sign.
6. Sparkly bobby pins
Whether metallic, glittery, or rhinestone-studded, there's only one rule: pile 'em on till your head is a veritable disco ball. The most current way to do it is to stick in your spangly pins of choice haphazardly, as if you just couldn't be bothered—Hailey Baldwin backstage at the Zadig & Voltaire Fall/Winter 2018 show volunteers as peg.
