Fashion history is surely reaching great heights this year, and the recent parade of shows at New York Fashion Week isn't falling short of its contributions. From Tom Ford's new see now, buy now strategy to the influx of designer streetwear, the majority of the industry is also finally putting the importance of representation in the fashion world on its priority list.
One of the biggest highlights of the week is perhaps Anniesa Hasibuan's show, because not only is the 28-year-old the first Indonesian designer to present a collection in an NYFW venue, her recently unveiled collection D'Jakarta is also the first NYFW collection ever that features the hijab, or the Muslim headscarf, in every look. Check out some of her divine designs below:

D'Jakarta is Anniesa's homage to her hometown and Indonesia's capital city. She made East meet West in a lineup of vibrant silks in the form of jackets, suits, trousers, and dresses decorated in grand patterns inspired by Indonesian mosaics. The different layering techniques and textures she introduced in the collection left the every spectator in awe and the collection even earned her a rare standing ovation from the show's audience, leaving the talented designer in tears.

And although fashion still has a ways to go with representation and this is only one small step for NYFW, it's a giant leap for Anniesa and Muslim women everywhere.
