This Is Why You Should Wear Purple Today Now's the time to make a statement.

Happy International Women's Day (IWD), ladies! Today marks the global celebration of women empowerment and achievement. The IWD has been observed since the early 1900s and continues to recognize women's call for equality. There are so many ways to get immersed in this good cause, but perhaps the easiest way you can participate and support the movement is by wearing the color purple.

Why purple? According to the IWD site, it's a color that symbolizes not only women but also "signifies justice and dignity." This is quite timely as Pantone had recently revealed 2018's color of the year, Ultraviolet. The chosen color is supposed to express "visionary thinking." It's aimed to "symbolize experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets," which is an appropriate and opportune call for action given the current challenges women face in today's turbulent society.

Ready to make a political and stylish statement? Here's a quick roundup of purple pieces to get you started.
