This Is Why Shopping Is a Form of Cardio Shop ‘til you drop, IRL.

Do new collections give you a rush of endorphins? Does your heart race when the pair of shoes you’ve been lusting after is in your size? Do your eyes light up at the mere mention of sale? Do you take great pride in your purchases, hoisting them like a trophy you’ve won after crossing the finish line—in this case, the cash register? If you answer “Yes” to all, then you are, by all means, ready for an even bigger shopping challenge.

On August 20 and 21, Alabang Town Center will stage the Red Bucket Sale, a grab-all shopping spree where shopaholics can literally flex their shopping muscles and prove how well they can, well, shop. The challenge? A total of 60 participants at a time can grab as many clothes as they can within a 15-minute time frame and fit these in a single red bucket. It does sound like an obstacle race, right?


Rules are simple: Fill one bucket in your allotted 15 minutes. Do be on time during your shopping wave as late comers lose their slot. No return, no exchange after you and your bucket’s contents finish at the verification table. Shop clean and be courteous to your fellow shoppers. 

At P3500 per ticket, you can pick any item your hands can get on from participating shops like GAP, Cotton On, Giordano, Rustan’s, Plains & Prints, Folded & Hung, Tally Weijl, Una Rosa, Cinderella, Seventeen, Mexx, Kashieca, Human, Miyagi & Co, Fresh Brand, The Perfect White Shirt, Fudge Rock, Get Laud, Metro, Collezione, and Old Navy. There will be 15 waves per day and items will be replenished at the start of each wave.

It can be done! These bloggers were able to fill their buckets with as many as 15 items at the Red Bucket Sale Warm-Up Edition.

To survive this real-life shop-‘til-you-drop event, we suggest you come prepared. Slip into your most comfortable ensemble (heels and skirts, not recommended) and practice how to fold clothes to take up the least amount of space in a bucket. Perhaps, carbo-load and do some stretching, too, before the event? We tell you, it can turn into a full workout sesh, sumo squats and lunges included.
