Dressed in a floor-length Tadashi Shoji gown, Mikaela Martinez made quite the entrance as the fringe on her dress swayed with each step.
This is exactly what you notice when you lay eyes on the special collection of Japanese-American designer Tadashi Shoji that was hand-crafted specifically for Rustan’s. The simple elegance of his designs only brought more attention to the quality of the fabrics he used. Fine lace in colors as bright as cobalt and candy pink; opulent floral jacquards; delicately embroidered tulle overlays; and luscious velvet cut in a filigree pattern are as inviting to slip into as they are festive to wear.

The epitome of modern elegance that night, the clean lines of Apples Aberin’s gown were given structure in the form of micro-pleating.
“Rustan’s as a lifestyle leader and purveyor of style has helped me immensely,” said the designer who was in town to showcase his creations at the Sapphire Ball, in celebration of the luxury retailer’s 65th anniversary. “They paved the way for me to share my designs with the Southeast Asian market, particularly the Filipinos.” Rustan Commercial Corporation Chairman and CEO Zenaida R. Tantoco shared her own admiration for Tadashi: “Tadashi Shoji is a truly talented designer and visionary, who understands the needs and wants of discerning clientele. Rustan’s is honored to have him join us as we celebrate 65 years of creativity, innovation, and luxury of which he embodies all.”
