Samsung finally takes the wraps off its latest attempt to exceed expectations of a premium smartphone. Set to dominate the market, it introduces its all new flagship model, the Galaxy S6 and its sister, the Galaxy S6 edge.
Foregoing the plastic back that Samsung used for previous smartphone models, the re-imagined Galaxy S series aims to marry design and innovation with its metal frame and glass body, 5.1" screen and 16 megapixel rear camera, among other features. Always being ahead of the curve, its newest innovation, the Galaxy S6 edge strikes balance between beauty and purpose with its AMOLED screen that curves to both sides of the phone.
In celebration of its arrival and the debut of Georgina Wilson and Solenn Heussaff as its newest ambassadors, Samsung collaborated with masters of Filipino artistry and design in creating pieces inspired by the craftsmanship of the two smartphones. First up, the Fashion & Design Council of The Philippines (FDCP) unveiled a full collection inspired by the elegant colors of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge—Black Sapphire, White Pearl, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz, and Green Emerald—which were showcased on the runway together with the phones. Next is world renowned Filipino glass sculptor, Ramon Orlina, who created six sculptures that took notes from the S6 edge’s curved glass finish. Lastly, jeweler Marilou Co of Marilou Jewellery crafted the world's most luxurious case for the Galaxy S6—encrusted with 60 brilliant diamonds on 18k pure gold. Now who says fashion and technology don't go together?
