SpaceX (short for Space Exploration Technologies Corporation) is an aerospace company. While their expertise lies primarily in creating devices for space transport, they’ve taken a break from space and are now creating the perfect heel (for us Earthlings).
Heading the project is executive Dolly Singh, joined by an astronaut, an orthopedic surgeon, a fashion scientist (who knew?) and, of course, a rocket scientist. They’re inventing a shoe that redistributes pressure along the foot using high-quality plastic and polymer instead (typically, heels use a metal construction).
The heels will be available this coming autumn for a whopping $925 US dollars.
Fortunately, Singh is hoping to apply this new construct to all high heels. So, who knows, in five years you might just have a pair.
