Jeremiah Proposes to Belly in “The Summer I Turned Pretty”
In the final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, emotions run high, love triangles persist, and yes—there’s a proposal. Prime Video’s teen drama centers on the whirlwind love life of Belly Conklin (played by Lola Tung), who finds herself caught between two brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney). While longtime fans have debated where Belly’s heart truly lies, the second episode of Season 3 settled one thing: Jeremiah gets down on one knee and asks her to marry him.

But the moment that should’ve been purely swoon-worthy sparked another kind of buzz online—the ring. Viewers were quick to point out just how tiny the diamond was. One viral post joked, “not even the microscope in the lab Conrad’s gonna work at could find this ring,” referencing Conrad’s future in science.
As reactions poured in, Lola Tung herself weighed in on the drama. In an interview with Pedestrian TV, she said the backlash was “a little much” and emphasized that she finds the ring “practical” and “beautiful.”
She echoed this in a chat with Popsugar Australia, explaining that Jeremiah’s financial situation likely influenced the choice, and that the piece fits Belly’s style. “It’s not about material things,” she added. Series creator Jenny Han backed her up, calling it a “responsible move.”

So what’s the story behind the much-discussed sparkler? According to several outlets, the ring is from Brooklyn-based jeweler Catbird and is called the Diamond Fizz Ring. It’s delicate, minimalist, and very on-brand for the character’s coastal-chic vibe. Made from 100% recycled solid 14K yellow gold, it features a 3mm round brilliant recycled white diamond set on a super-fine .80mm band.

Catbird’s Chief Creative Officer Leigh Batnick Plessner told Elle that the Fizz Ring wasn’t custom-made for the series—it’s part of an existing collection that first launched post-pandemic, meant to embody “effervescence” and everyday wearability. “It suits young love because it’s so wearable,” she explained. “It can grow with you over time.”

As for the price tag? The ring retails for just $289 (roughly P17,000)—a refreshingly attainable figure in the world of fictional TV engagements. There's even a petite version for $168. And while the dainty size may not impress every viewer, it reflects a modern shift toward personal, meaningful jewelry over flashy statements.

The collaboration between Catbird and The Summer I Turned Pretty didn’t stop at the ring. The two also partnered on a seven-piece jewelry collection inspired by Belly’s story, featuring seashell charms and infinity-shaped motifs—a nod to the show’s nostalgia, romance, and endless summers.
