While we're in the midst of determining which five of the ten finalists of this year's PEFTA will make it to the final round,we're also currently preoccupied with good tidings from six of last year's PEFTA designers, who have just formed a collective called "The Six."
Young talents Seph Bagasao, Erika Adona, Riza Bulawan, Ken Samudio, Renz Reyes, and Dan Duran all bonded during the PEFTA process, and their friendship extended beyond the awards show. A shared design sensibility strengthened their bond and prompted them to establish a group. "We called our collective 'The Six' because we've grown quite close with each other and had mettings after PEFTA just for fun," Ken shares. "Then we realized we kinda have the same aesthetics so we decided to do a collection to showcase what we can do and to strengthen our PEFTA bond."
He adds, "This is also a way to support one another, especially PEFTA designers, who might need a little push and exposure."
The Six produced an editorial for www.style-anywhere.com, a fashion and style blog by photographer Onin Lorente. Called The Prey, the spread features the six designers' latest pieces, inspired by "a pure soul [who has] drifted to a distant land" and "adapts and competes for survival." The pieces brim with menace and the fearless energy of the emerging designers. The dark editorial showcases a deliberately disproportionate vest of Erika; Ken's avian-inspired headpieces; Riza's sculptural bolero; towering platforms by Dan; sharply paneled separates by Renz; and deftly constructed garments by Seph, who also styled the shoot.
