The Return Of Tretorn

The '80s shoe hit makes a comeback.
The Return Of Tretorn The '80s shoe hit makes a comeback.

Like many other things '80s, “Trets” are making a comeback, trying to inch its way into its former sneaker sensation status.

The signature canvas style, with its tell-tale lopsided V, has been given a makeover since the Tretorn brand was acquired by Puma in 2001. Like other kicks, they come in a more upscale leather variety, sporting the usual urban black, white, and gray shades. Cool hunters will like the teal and gunmetal options that look just like an updated classic should.

Heading the pack of cool new styles is a basic pair that's clad in an off-center zigzag of garter. The design harks back to Puma's Mostro line, which may be a good thing considering the style was widely popular among the style set (especially those who don't generally wear sneakers). Tretorn has maintained the same preppy personality now infused with today's hipster sensibility.

Of course the price tag has also appreciated with time and it now costs P3490 for the canvas pairs and P4990 if you get it in leather.

Tretorn is available at Bratpack in Greenbelt 5, Rustan's Makati, and selected Res-Toe-Run stores.
