Yesterday’s episode of Eat Bulaga’s much talked about kalyeserye series sent tingles down everyone’s spine when finally, after all these months, #AlDubEBTamangPanahon happened.
It wasn’t just the timing which made it "magical," as captioned by Maine Mendoza on Instagram, but the combination of everything. From the song choices, to the venue and the teary-eyed crowd, to the glass slipper and, of course, the love team wearing matching prince and princess ensembles by Francis Libiran, everything just fell right into place.
Speaking of that controversial dress, you’ve probably seen the photos of Kim Chiu going around wearing the exact same pink embellished gown. Netizens were quick to point out that Yaya Dub's stylist "recycled" an outfit that had already been worn by Kim. And now, we're here to set the record straight.
According to her stylist, Liz Uy, “Maine’s gown was chosen among several gowns because its style best fitted the show’s Cinderella theme. The gown, which was first showcased at Francis Libiran’s fashion show as part of his Bangalore collection, was purchased by Tape, Inc. for the event.”
For Francis Libiran’s 15th Anniversary Fashion Show, he enlisted the help of not just Kim Chiu, but also Anne Curtis, Liza Soberano, Coleen Garcia, Karylle Tatlonghari, and more to walk for his show. That, dear ladies, is where the photo came from. Hey, even Kathryn Bernardo’s debut frock was patterned after the same collection!
This means that #YayaDub is the first celebrity to wear it off the runway.
Francis also released a statement to clear the contorversy surrounding the dress. He said, "We are so glad, honored and grateful that Maine Mendoza and her official stylist, Stylized Studio, Inc., chose a beautiful Francis Libiran dress from our Spring/Summer 2015 Collection. Maine Mendoza's gown at Eat Bulaga's Tamang Panahon concert for a cause was bought and paid for by Eat Bulaga Production. Kim Chiu wore this gown at the Metrowear Icon Francis Libiran fashion show as a model. This gown has not been worn at any other event by any other celebrity."
Even celebrities in Hollywood do this all the time—wear designs straight from the runway, which, by the way, is very telling of their taste and knowledge in the fashion industry.
Now, can we focus on something more exciting? Like the fact that she's our November cover girl?
