The first time I met Gelo Salonga, a Clothing Technology graduate from University of the Philippines, was Preview HQ. He dropped by to show us some samples from his label, Garrison, comprised of classic and comfortable separates in tartan, camo, and dark floral prints. The quality is excellent, to say the least, which got us even more curious about the designer's style philosophy and what his brand is all about.

HOW DID CLOTHING TECH HELP YOU AS A FASHION DESIGNER?
The course encouraged me to understand all facets of selling clothes—from design, production, management, marketing and even the business side of things. It instilled in me a basic knowledge of how the industry really operates and not just from a design point of view but also on other more technical parts.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE GARRISON’S LOOK?
Garrison aims to fuse fun and sartorial elements with familiar silhouettes and styles. It’s a mixture of minimalist and contemporary trends.
