Wedding guests are often subjected to a long list of guidelines—from where to buy gifts to where to sit, when to take photos, and (the most grueling of them all) what to wear. Girls are all too familiar but have never really understood what certain dress codes mean. Be it cocktail, beach formal, semi-formal or formal, there are tons of terms to be deciphered, but it has always been a custom to never wear white or black at weddings.
But seeing Camille Ongpauco’s entourage, she shattered this antiquated belief. Perhaps she knows that an LBD is universally flattering on any girl, and for practical purposes, it can be reworn on a number of occasions.
Designer Mark Bumgarner, Heart Evangelista-Escudero’s good friend and collaborator, created matching black tea-length dresses in neoprene for Camille’s bridesmaids. Zooming in on Heart’s dress, she wears hers with a high neckline and an oversized origami bow at the back, paired with wedges.
But ladies, before you hoard LBDs for the wedding season, you may want to check with the bride first if it’s okay to wear black. After all, it’s her wedding and her rules.
Oh, and congratulations to the newlyweds, Camille and Martin!
