Fashion can be a cruel world full of plastics (both the human kind, and the kind you swipe) and so we had a little thought experiment: What if Tina Fey decided to re-make Mean Girls as a fashion film? Think September issue crossed with Mean Girls crossed with this cool little video from the Business of Fashion. Here, we recast the North Shore High School student body and subbed the Rachels and Lindsays for some Annas and Graces, as we try to picture the most quotable movie of all time as a fresh fashion film. Meet the cast:
(Grace Coddington as Cady Heron, Kate Upton as Karen Smith, Anna Wintour as Regina George, and Julia Sarr-Jamois as Gretchen Weiners)
That one girl over there, that’s Kate Upton. All the boys love her because she can dance the cat daddy and, well, she has big assets. And the other one over there, that’s Julia Sarr-Jamois, the fashion editor of Wonderland. Her hair is so big because it’s full of styling secrets. And the leader of the pack is Anna Wintour. How do we even begin to explain her? Grace (Coddington) on the other hand, she’s the (not-so) new girl. Everybody thinks she could be the next Anna or even better.
THE GREATEST PEOPLE YOU’LL EVER MEET
(Marc Jacobs as Janis Ian and André Leon Talley as Damian)
Marc Jacobs is so totally in love with Anna, only, he likes boys IRL. André Leon Talley may not have a pink shirt to lend to Grace for Wednesday lunches but he does have a big black McQueen coat.
THE COOL MOM
(Donatella Versace as Mrs. George)
Donatella Versace isn’t like any other mom. She’ll let you drink alcohol and give you front row tickets to her show.
(Miroslava Duma as Ms. Norbury)
Former Harpers Bazar editor and founder of Buro 24/7 Miroslava Duma will school you on the latest in fashion from around the world via her IG account and Buro247.com.
