The Ladies That Didn't Quite Make It to Our 2016 Oscars Best Dressed List

Good try, better luck next time.
The Ladies That Didn't Quite Make It to Our 2016 Oscars Best Dressed List Good try, better luck next time.

Awards season is our favorite season. With the number of gowns and outrageous getups parading on television, it's enough to stir our ball gowned fantasies, not to mention our #JudgingYou tendencies.

As always, we've rounded up our favorites on the red carpet (and our not-so favorites). But this time around we're including some of the ladies that didn't quite secure a spot on our best-dressed list but still deserve a special mention for their valiant efforts.

Okay, our girl Naomi looks stunning in this beaded column gown, no question. But the reason why she made it on this list is because this look was a total let down. Despite her wearing a lengthening column gown, the too-long hem pulls her height down an inch or two. Plus, for a girl who's made daring choices on the red carpet, this look gets a yawn for playing it safe.

When we saw the back of the gown, Olivia was quickly catapulted to best dressed status. The wing-like pleats on her shoulders sweetened the look of her bare back, while her knife pleated skirt showed movement in the most romantic way. But the front totally ruined it. Showing cleavage and a little side boob, the upper torso exposure on this dress reinforces this rule: if you're showing off skin, choose one body part at a time, not three (yes, sibe boob and cleavage count as two).

At first glance Rachel is a vision in her emerald-hued gown. The dramatic low-dipped back combined with the flowing train and leg slit would have marked her as best dressed gold, if it weren't for the abundance of wrinkles present on her gown.

Heidi Klum

With her supermodel height and good looking genes, Heidi Klum can pull anything off. Except, that is, for this look. While the lilac gown conjures up ethereal imagery, it could have done without the extra sleeve and flower embellishments.

Charlize Theron

Proving to us once again that supermodel looks aren't everything, Charlize falls short in her daring red dress. Though her body looks great, her look would have been better without the long strand necklace and heavy eye makeup (making her look way older!).
