Like most of Manila, I got Gastby-fied over the weekend, and seeing as Baz Luhrmann is only my Most Favorite Director Of All Time, I was beside myself with excitement when his latest blockbuster exploded on the scene. The auteur’s vision of the legendary Fitzgerald novel was nothing short of—to borrow from another one of the director’s masterpieces—“Spectacular! Spectacular!”: the glamorous Roaring Twenties was showcased in all its over-the-top glory, NYC hedonism and Flapper glitz saturating each frame. Until the next stunner from Baz and his partner in work and life Catherine Martin comes to the big screen though, I’ll have to tide my nostalgia over with some Art Deco picks, '20s-inspired items, and, you know, all that jazz.
