The mid-season Métiers d'Art collection honoring the craftsmanship of Chanel's atelier is held but once a year, so it's only right that the annual event is as lavish as possible! In previous shows, the luxury label has jetted off to Rome, Salzburg, Dallas, Edinburgh, Mumbai, and New York, but for its Pre-Fall spectacle, Chanel has come home to Paris—the opulent Ritz Hotel, to be exact, in homage to its quintessentially French roots.
Below, five things we loved about this year's star-studded, pearl-encrusted show:
1. The celebrities

Catwalk first-timer Lily-Rose Depp glittered in a champagne crop top and skirt set, Pharrell Williams worked a long, multilayer pearl neckpiece under a morning-length tweed coat, and Cara Delevigne reappeared on the runway after famously quitting it last summer. Instagirl Sofia Richie and models-of-the-moment Soo Joo Park, Natalie Westling, and Molly Bair also walked. And oh, let's not forget Karl Lagerfeld himself, who strutted hand-in-hand with the adorable seven-year-old Hudson Kroenig. You're never too young for fashion.
2. The beauty game

Aside from the lace net-trimmed fascinators and massive silken flowers perched on the models' heads, hair and makeup master Tom Pecheux also lined eyes with white powder for a clean yet ethereal effect. Paired with velvet skin and rosebud lips, it's a sultry stare we're definitely copping for the holidays. Replace your usual black wing tip with a white streak!
3. The looks

Inspirations include 1930s Cafe Society glam and the incomparable Roaring Twenties, evident in the collection's abundance of pearl strands, shimmering brocade, quilted gloves, sequined tweed jackets, gold-dipped feathers, and intricate gilded filigree. Chanel outdoes itself, as always.
4. The storied backdrop

In 1937, Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel occupied a suite on the 3rd floor of the Ritz Paris for the first time, and went on to live there for the next 37 years. Eight decades later, the luxury house pays its founder tribute by presenting their 13th Métiers d’Arts collection at the palatial hotel (which has recently undergone a total renovation—it reopened just last June!). How's that for a bit of fashion history?
5. The backstage and bloopers
Here's the ever-kooky Cara accidentally bumping into an audience member...
...then making a graceful comback twirling with the Les Twins (more famously known as longtime Beyonce dancers!).
"Iguana Delevigne" has got us cracking up, as usual.
Willow Smith made a rare musical performance right before the show! We're not surprised; after all, the talented 16-year-old is a favorite Lagerfeld muse.
