This Filipino Brand Is Championing Local Textiles for Everyday Wear
Tahi, led by Tati Miranda-Fortuna, demonstrates how traditional Filipino fabrics can feel at home in contemporary closets.

Local textiles are often reserved for special occasions—worn only at ceremonies, cultural events, or festivities. The cultural codes attached to them sometimes place these fabrics on a pedestal, admired but rarely incorporated into the wardrobes we reach for daily.
Yet a growing number of designers are challenging these notions. Among them is Tahi, an independent label making a case for why indigenous fabrics deserve a place in your everyday wardrobe.
How Filipino Brand Tahi Champions Local Textiles for Everyday Wear
Tahi began as founder Tati Miranda-Fortuna’s response to an industry she knew well. After years in corporate apparel, she grew increasingly uncomfortable with the waste baked into fast fashion. That realization nudged her toward a slower, more thoughtful approach to creating clothes—and purposefully back to her own cultural roots.
Raised by a mother who practiced medicine while serving as a cultural steward in Kalinga, Tati grew up surrounded by the colors, stories, and rituals woven into traditional textiles.
Those early impressions sparked a deeper question for her: How could she honor the textiles she grew up with while designing clothing that felt natural for everyday life?

Bringing Tahi to life meant working closely with Filipino artisans and weaving communities. The brand integrates handwoven fabrics into streamlined silhouettes, harmonizing heritage materials with practical design.
Tahi’s collections are built around versatile wardrobe staples inspired by classic workwear. These pieces are meant to move with the wearer through routines, commutes, and quiet moments at home. With locally handwoven textiles, deadstock fabrics, and natural fibers at its core, each garment reflects Tati’s belief in mindful consumption: buying what lasts, choosing what matters, and wearing pieces that carry stories beyond trends.

The brand’s approach to dressing is simple—fewer things, but made with intention. Tahi focuses on quality and longevity, designing pieces that hold up through repeated wear and eventually become heirlooms in their own right.
As Tati shares, “We’re not just responsible for ourselves; we carry a responsibility to our country, to our culture, to our heritage, and to the Earth. It’s about buying better, buying less, and making it last.”
