Every September, you can expect that the fashion industry is abuzz with the excitement and thrill of seeing the coming season’s creations. New collections from all our favorite global designers come together for the melting pot that is fashion week.
Fresh off the heels of NYFW, are the amazing strides seen at Longchamp’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection, where the French label churned out city sleek ensembles that the modern woman would love. From sorbet hues, floral broderie anglaise pieces, dégradé silk pleats, leather dresses, and fun accessories—each piece had a sophisticated yet playful element that left us screencapping and double-tapping like crazy. Think flirty and feminine pieces with a sportif spirit, and a carefree bohemian touch.
Longchamp Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine was able to integrate a sense of French nonchalance with that cool New York City girl appeal in her latest offering. Inspired by the solar journey where the day starts at dusk and ends at dawn, Sophie recalls the colorful artwork of Judy Chicago in some of her creations; as if we are moving alongside the woman going about her busy (but still fashionable) schedule. It’s apparent in each look that this is a lady we want to be. And another eye-catching piece? That super mini Le Pliage that’s already made our wish lists as we speak.
While we wait for another couple of months ’til the summer of 2020 when we can actually get a hold of these pieces for real, here are a few looks we’re already wearing in our minds:
1. Enchantingly Boho
The mix of hues in this midi dress gives a fresh perspective to a bohemian silhouette; where the usual dominant tones would be warm, you’ll see a cooler palette here. We’d totally wear this to the movies or even to Sunday brunch, ’cause it’ll look even better with a mimosa in hand.
2. Casual Cool
If you’re looking for a crisp outfit that can take you from day to night with just a change of shoes and a deep-hued lippie, this is it. We love the balanced proportions of the balloon sleeves with the mini skirt, cinched at the waist with a discreet, knotted leather belt.
3. Sharp Image
A leather dress is a statement-making staple that might seem impractical given our humid temperatures, but this red number is a sleek knockout. While it’s a perf ensemble to wear with the cooler climate we’ve been enjoying recently, what makes this great is how versatile it can be—wear it as a dress over pants, or even as a coat when you next travel abroad.
4. Soft Sophistication
The gradient effect of this stunning silk creation makes this a valuable contender to your trusty LBD or LWDs. The options to dress this piece up or down are endless, may it be a shift in accessories, jewelry, or shoes. We can already imagine wearing this to a hot date with the SO, or a night out with the girls for sure.
5. Festively Fun
The vibrant print on this dress makes it a great look that can take you from the beach or the countryside, right into the city. Think of it as a go-to party dress that’ll help you let loose. We’re already thinking of wearing this with a leather moto jacket to a hot-ticket concert belting out tunes like there’s no tomorrow.
6. Smart Layering
What makes this look work is that it combines the usual elements of a fool-proof look with ease. An A-line black coat worn over a white buttoned-down top makes you stylishly rain-resistant, just in time for that client meeting.
7. Sheer Drama
Just when you thought florals weren’t groundbreaking (for Spring at least), Longchamp serves us this look that takes us back. The shape and silhouette of this set gives us plenty of reasons to take on a fresh approach on floral appliqué, that’ll come in handy for cocktail hour with your co-workers, dinner with friends, or even a garden wedding.
