Gone are the days when suits were strictly worn for business. Today, you can wear them to less formal parties, weddings, and while traveling, making it a newfound staple in every woman's wardrobe. The only challenge? Finding tailoring shops that don't only cater to men.
Here, we rounded up some local brands and designers that you can turn to for bespoke suits:
1. Salvo Women
Salvo Women started out as a bespoke tailoring for men called Salvo Tailors, but in 2018, the team behind it has branched out to womenswear, crafting made-to-measure suits, and topcoats for the modern Pinay. One quick scroll through their Instagram feed will make you want to get a colored suit!
2. Masanting Sastreria
With the male-dominated tailoring industry, it's nice to know that Masanting Sastreria is run by a woman, Carin Aguas, along with her husband Mark. In an interview with Preview.ph, Carin takes pride in their bespoke suit's flattering fit. "One of the reasons they come to my shop is because I understand the shape of a woman's body, unlike in other tailoring shops where the suits are cut for men but done in a woman's size."
3. Suit It Up Manila
Where to find them: 2nd Floor, Unit A1, Suit It Up Manila, 1018 A.Arnaiz Ave, Makati and 5th Level Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City
This bespoke formal menswear brand has a star-studded client list. The It girls' husbands Nico Bolzico, Adrien Semblat, and Erwan Heussaff are just some of its many known regulars. But what many don't know is they also cater to women. The local brand can tailor a variety of suit styles, from a double-breasted blazer dress, to a pantsuit, to a skirt suit.
4. Bianca Cordero
Aside from evening gowns, celebrity stylist and fashion designer Bianca Cordero can whip up a structured suit to a collarless pantsuit with a looser fit that you can wear on many casual occasions. As an artist, Bianca can tastefully incorporate a few twists to the classic suit—perfect for those who truly want the bespoke experience!
