Quarantine has us trying out a number of things to banish boredom, from whipping up delicious treats, cooking K-drama-inspired meals, to getting dressed to the nines just because. But if there’s anything that’s stopping us from exploring any further, it has to be the heat.
You can probably relate when we say that the increasing temperatures have trapped us in a fashion limbo of tank tops, camisoles, and gym shorts. However, we’re not letting the heat get the best of our style game any longer, so we’ve browsed through only the most stylish social media accounts for fresh workarounds. These outfit inspos will not only keep you cool but terribly chic as well!
1. Linen shorts and a sleeveless top
Swap those old college shorts for a fresh pair of pleated linen shorts that are just as comfortable. Instead of your go-to camisole or tank top, why don’t you pick out a dressier sleeveless top? It won’t hurt to look like you’re off to brunch—even if you’ll just be hanging out in your own kitchen.
2. Put on a bright roomy dress
Give your years-old, ride-or-die “duster” a break by putting on a roomy dress. Make sure the fabric is light and breathable so as to keep you cool and fresh throughout the day. If you’re up for footwear, we suggest a pair of Birkenstocks or any chunky sandals.
3. A tube top and track shorts
Unleash your inner hubadera with this summer-friendly outfit courtesy of Lovi Poe. We’re guessing this was her pre-workout (or post-workout) outfit because of the tube top, but this works perfectly well as a daily home OOTD. If tube tops aren’t your thing, slip into a nude-colored camisole instead.
4. Mimic co-ords with a halter and shorts
If you already own cute summery co-ords, then by all means, make that your quarantine uniform. If you don’t own a set, you can easily cop it by pairing separates of the same color, like this white halter and shorts combo. Don’t be afraid to accessorize while you’re at it, too. (Pro tip: Putting on earrings works wonders and is kind of therapeutic.)
5. Sports bra and leggings
Leave it to Julia Barretto to create a simple yet stylish quarantine OOTD. Here, she utilizes her trusty athleisure pieces—sports bra and leggings—for an ultra-comfy home outfit. We bet this will even inspire you to do that workout you’ve planned since Day 1.
6. Linen paperbag-waisted trousers and nude tank top
Inspired by her Kori Kohi creation, Rei Germar’s summer look consists of a coffee-colored tank top and creamy white linen trousers. The Preview April 2020 cover girl even matched her lipstick to her top! Take cues from Rei by mixing and matching warm nude hues with lighter neutrals.
7. A puff sleeved-blouse and matching pants
Romanticism still reigns this Spring/Summer, and although sleeves are getting bigger and bolder, we’re sure it won’t hurt to sport the slightest pouf. That said, why don’t you get out your old puffy faves and wear them with breezy lounge pants? Here, Mari Jasmine completes her look with gold accessories. Cop her look by donning gold earrings and a stack of thin bracelets.
8. Any prairie dress
As mentioned, romantic interpretations were aplenty on the Spring/Summer runways. You can replicate that Victorian flair at home with a simple prairie dress like Jessy Mendiola’s pristinely white one. If not, you can simply slip into any white dress and accessorize with dainty accessories.
9. A good old sundress
Halsey has that uncanny ability to make literally any outfit look cool. Here, she shows us how gardening during quarantine is done in a vintage floral dress, a sun hat, and a matching watering can to boot. If you weren't wearing dresses pre-quarantine, perhaps now’s the time to give it a try. You might just find that they’re irresistibly breezy.
10. Your own draped creation
Because we’re all for a good social media challenge (like the viral pillow challenge), here’s one that we’re seriously considering—we blame Heart Evangelista! Here, she takes on the “Hermes blanket challenge” and cinched her draped creation with (what else?) an orange Hermes belt.
