Put a proud hand up if you've been bingeing on K-dramas nonstop these days. Same. As editors, though, we've realized that we subconsciously gravitate towards the ones that are flawlessly well-styled! On that note: Here, we've rounded up some of the most sartorially gifted characters we've ever come across, for your outfit-pegging pleasure. Prepare for obvious winners and also a number of unexpected wildcards...and maybe some new additions to your to-watch-next list.
1. Cheon Song Yi of "My Love from the Star"
Cheon Song Yi is a snobby famous actress played by, well, a real-life famous actress (the inimitable Jun Ji-Hyun), and she's got the topnotch style to show for it. Though she struggles to face scandal, her own waning stardom, and falling hard for a handsome 400-year-old alien (Kim Soo Hyun) she never lets herself go for even a minute (at least not in front of the scrutinizing public eye). It's been seven years since this K-drama aired on SBS and we still want her smart, glam, ladylike 'fits for ourselves.
2. Cha Joong Won of "Shopping King Louie"
The title alone is evidence that this drama is a must for any fashion fiend. While the amnesiac chaebol heir Louie (Seo In Guk) is undeniably put-together, it's the prickly luxury merchandising director Cha Joong Won (Yoon Sang Hyun) who's the real scene-stealer in our opinion. Unafraid to don pieces traditionally reserved for the ladies, you can catch him in ruffled, beribboned shirts and fun, gaudy printed co-ords at any point in the series.
3. Min Ha Ri of "She Was Pretty"
She Was Pretty tells the story of Kim Hye Jin (Hwang Jung Eum), a faded former beauty who convinces her stunning best friend Min Ha Ri (Go Joon Hee) to parade as her when her first love Ji Sung Joon (Park Seo Jun) asks to meet again after years apart. Hye Ri simply doesn't want to disappoint Sung Joon, so she sends the pretty and stylish Ha Ri to see him in her place...with eventual consequences. We won't spoil the entire plot, but what you've got to know is that Ha Ri's sexy-cute OOTDs are 100% stealable. Identity swap thankfully not included.
4. Shim Cheong of "Legend of the Blue Sea"
Another sparkling star point for Jun Ji-Hyun! If you just so happen to be an ancient reincarnated mermaid with no clue as to how land folk usually dress, chances are you'll probably throw on whatever's readily available—the difference is that Shim Cheong makes the resulting haphazard mishmash look absolutely terrific, from being miserably caught in the pouring rain wearing nothing less than a full-on pink sequined minidress to rummaging through a literal garbage bin for designer threads.
5. Kim Shin and Wang Yeo of "Goblin"
Of course they're a package deal. Kim Shin a.k.a. the Goblin (Gong Yoo) and Wang Yeo a.k.a. the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook) make a legendary bromance for the ages, threatening to kill each other one minute then adorably FaceTiming the next. And, because they very reluctantly live together, you'll never run short of both achingly sleek, chic menswear suiting and cozy knit cardigans to covet. Get you a pair of versatile mythical men.
6. Do Hye Ji of "Crash Landing on You"
Yes, we're talking about Se Ri's pesky, lesser-evil sister-in-law in Crash Landing on You! The annoying yet hilarious Do Hye Ji (Hwang Woo Seul Hye) has got some of the most underrated looks on the show, we think, always consisting of prim tweed skirt suits in darling candy colors paired with demure bow-neck tops and dainty pumps, often with socks. A blend of posh, proper, and sugar-sweet. All the better to try and steal your multimillion-dollar company in.
7. Jung Geum Ja of "Hyena"
Crisp to a fault sans sacrificing color play, Jung Geum Ja (Kim Hye Soo) is a ruthless, scheming attorney who's up against brilliant, arrogant fellow lawyer Yoon Hee Jae (Ju Ji Hoon). To bring him down a notch, she dons the kind of delightfully '80s oversized shoulders, huge lapels, and floor-skimming trousers Balenciaga would be proud of, all in a myriad of non-snooze hues. Oh, and her signature accessory? A chain-strap phone case sling. Copping.
