After some reflection, we've (a tad belatedly) realized that Givenchy's Spring/Summer 2019 Couture show was a treasure trove of brilliant styling ideas we're no doubt snagging for every big, dress-to-the-nines event we'll ever attend. Hyperbolic? Not even close. Scroll and see what we mean!
1. Wear both a long skirt and a mini at the same time.
You know how much we a love a clever play on lengths! Layer a sheer tulle maxi under a much shorter skirt for an elegant effect you can take to the next grand, fancy fête on your busy social calendar.
2. Don leggings to a formal evening.
Didn't think you could, huh? Simply pick a high-shine, second-skin version to pair with an exquisite tailored blazer up top. So, so sleek.
3. If you're going to do one bold color, amp up the texture.
A cheerful marigold hue is eye-catching enough worn plain—still, to really make a statement, look for a piece brimming with interesting texture. This floral appliquéd number, par exemple, is a total beaut zoomed in or out.
4. Go behind the scenes.
All our yeses to a party in the back. Whether you're picking the plunging, skin-baring route or a delightfully in-your-face bow the size of Jupiter, make sure every jaw hits the ground once you turn around.
5. Carry your art on your sleeve.
Ultimately, scrimp on anything but the sleeves. Trust us, you can get away with even the simplest blazer-and-pencil skirt combo so long as you bass-boost the arm candy! Feathers optional but highly encouraged.
