Renee De Guzman's looks are instantly captivating: curly copper hair, doll-like face, caramel skin, and cleverly put-together outfits. With over 30,ooo Instagram followers, Renee has slowly but surely built a following with a shared niche taste as hers a.k.a. modern maximalism. The 22-year-old influencer and design student is surely one to watch—not just for her stylish OOTDs on the 'gram, but also for her overall sartorial aesthetic as she is poised to build her own fashion brand.
Just recently, Renee has revealed that she will be pursuing higher education on Fashion Design Technology at the London College of Fashion in the University of the Arts London (UAL). Below, she tells us how fashion continues to shape her life, be it through formal training or earning street style cred, one 'gram at a time.

In a few words, how would you describe your personal style?
"Adventurous and experimental."
When and how did you realize that this is your personal aesthetic? How much has your style changed over the years?
"As I got older, [my style] especially developed when I went to a design school since I explored more styles. I was very particular with clothes from the start and I guess with being very nitpicky with [the clothes I wear], I realized which garments were my staples and which weren’t. "
Name five items in your closet that you absolutely can't live without.

How would you describe your "uniform" outfit?
"It would be a statement top and high-waisted pants."
Shopping Habits
Where do you usually shop for clothes, bags, shoes, accessories?
"I shop everywhere! From ukay-ukay to Greenhills, you can find me there. Locally, I go to NAVA, Carl Jan Cruz, Araw and Pink Manila for clothes. I love going to Net-A-Porter for other designer goods as well. Orseund Iris is another favorite, too! Whenever I travel, I honestly just look wherever because there’s so much good stuff to find!"
Are you an impulse buyer or more of an I'll-think-about-it-first kind of shopper? Why?
"I’m... more of both. It really depends on the item! Sometimes it would take me weeks, or I’ll give it a month and it would still bug me! [Laughs.] But I’d be an impulse buyer if I know that the item is a collector’s or limited edition."
