Fil-Am film producer Stefanie Walmsley had Filipinos buzzing when her short film, God of Love, was nominated for the recently concluded 83rd Academy Acards. They were even more excited when the short film, directed and starred in by Luke Matheny, ultimately bagged the Oscar for the Best Live Action Short category just last Monday, besting four other short films.

But aside from being stoked simply because another Filipino is being recognized abroad, Manila's fashion circles were abuzz because of Stefanie's red carpet outfit. The red carpet—nay, the Oscars, is a daunting event to dress up for, but even until a few days before the big event, Stefanie still had no idea what to wear. Luckily, her close friend Divine Lee came to the rescue, who managed to enlist her three favorite designers to dress Stefanie for her big day.

Divine asked Martin Bautista, Rajo Laurel, and Charina Sarte to make gowns for Stefanie within three days. (Click on the next pages to see their sketches, and click here to read Divine's story).

Ultimately, Stefanie chose to wear Martin's one-shoulder dress in emerald green chiffon for the red carpet. Here she is in Martin's creation, flanked by her God of Love co-producers and fellow Fil-Ams, Stephen Dypiangco and Gigi Dement (outfitted in Oliver Tolentino). Martin had this to say about the experience: "I was excited! I couldn't believe it at first that my dress would be walking down the Oscars red carpet! It's like a dream, but when I saw Stef on TV in the green dress I told myself, 'Wow, it's really happening!' I was shaking with excitement and happiness! And to be considered to make something for her was already an honor!"
