Julia Barretto summed it up in one word when Gretchen Ho asked her about her Mark Bumgarner dress: kinang. The Filipino word for sparkle and shine became the evening's buzzword as more and more of Star Magic's talents made their appearances on the red carpet. But what was hard to miss were two sets of twinning moments, with actresses dolled up in gowns with similarly glamorous effects.
Julia Barretto and Janella Salvador

Both dressed in Mark Bumgarner, Julia and Janella stood out in their tulle column gowns with silvery striped beadwork. Their necklines made all the difference: Julia's simple deep-V neckline kept her look clean and minimalist, while Janella's sweetheart neckline with a single shoulder strap tells us that she's up for some fashion risks.

The white dress code compliance on the nude tulle gowns of Erich and Elisse appeared as wispy white feathers dotting the gleaming beadwork. (Note the silver striped pattern like that of Julia and Janella's dresses!) And while the dreamy effect was quite similar, it was easy to see the difference in their ages by the slight shift in silhouettes. Erich's Jun Escario—designed dress was more vampy with its deep neckline and low back, while Elisse looked sweet and age-appropriate in her corset-topped Michael Leyva. Her hair pulled neatly back with gold barrettes was a nice touch.
And while sparkle at a ball is de rigeuer, these ladies have worked the update on embellishments quite nicely. We'll have some of those silvery stripes for our next big evening fête, please!
