A single word can branch out into hundreds of meanings, and the Preview Ball 2025 was a testament to this. Each guest arrived in the Marriott Grand Ballroom at Newport World Resorts donned in their show-stopping interpretations of “homegrown,” and among them was one of the Preview 30 icons, Solenn Heussaff.

“Homegrown is something from the roots,” she shared to Preview. “It’s the pride we take in showcasing Filipino culture in all its shapes and forms—whether it is traditional, modern or with fusion.” Her outfit for the night mirrored these sentiments with much finesse and sophistication, and it was nothing short of phenomenal (literally).

Solenn Heussaff’s Look at the Preview Ball 2025
Dressed in a sculptural piece by Rajo Laurel, it’s impossible not to be aware of Solenn’s presence. This comes naturally as the fashion designer christened the piece as the Ipo-ipo or the Whirlwind gown, a commanding occurrence that you just cannot ignore. When asked about the inspiration behind the look, Solenn explained Rajo’s vision, saying, “He was thinking about this natural phenomenon that is both intoxicatingly beautiful and dangerous at the same time.” It carries this powerful duality—something hazardous yet mesmerizing. When a tornado arrives, you don’t just see it. You experience it.

The gown was crafted using a special weave of silk and abaca, made in the artisanal province Abra. It captures Rajo’s undoubtable mastery of technique, and Solenn’s gripping aura. “Imagine capturing this in the language and in an expression that I know best,” the actress and model gushed.

With a dress that serves as a statement on its own, Solenn gravitated towards jewelry that encapsulates what it means to be simple, timeless, and elegant—three qualities that are evidently embedded in her roots. Opting for Jewelmer, according to Solenn, was a “no-brainer.” The Golden South Sea pearl is also known as the country’s national gem, and it adorned the spectacular accessories that completed her take on the motif.
