Five great minds from various art industries gathered last September 21, 2010 for a lecture series held by the SoFA Design Institute (formerly just School of Fashion and the Arts or SoFA) called SoFA Speaks: From Idea to Icon: How to succeed as an artist in business. Industry leaders Kenneth Cobonpue (furniture design), Rajo Laurel (fashion design), Cynthia and Ivy Almario (interior design), and Raymund Isaac (photography) came together to give inspiring spiels and invaluable advice about succeeding as an artist in their respective fields of passion and work.
The talk was given in accompaniment to the launch of SoFA's new identity as the SoFA Design Institute, which now consists not just of School of Fashion and the Arts, but also of its new School of Interior Design, spearheaded by interior design leaders Cynthia and Ivy Almario.
Cinema 2 of the Power Plant Mall was packed with aspiring young artists and keen listeners who received the precious advice, guidance, recommendations, and encouragement of these five industry masters. They all shared the principles they believe in, as well as the steps they undertook in order to become the successful artists they are now.
If you are following us on Twitter, you would have received live updates from the talk, complete with photos of the speakers' presentations and, of course, quotes of their insights.
