There have been a couple of times when friends of mine from the corporate field would share their frustrations about wanting to make the move to the creative industry. However, most of them didn't exactly know where to start. My quick answer: take a class.
Now, some of you might be taken aback by this, considering that you'll have to spend another two to three years back in school. Though actually, if you really want it, then it's totally worth it!
If you're not quite ready to leave your nine-to-five desk job, then that’s fine. What you can do instead is to take a few classes or short modules that would help in preparing you for that career move.
SoFA Design Institute offers a series of Master Classes, a unique take on the typical semester where you get to learn from different industry veterans who will show you the ropes of working in the creative field. From six-week sessions to a full on 18, the Master Class offers courses in Fashion Styling, Bag and Shoe Design, Lighting Design, and Business of Design to help budding talents fine-tune their skills with the guidance of teachers like WE Design Creative Director Mark Wilson, Aranaz Creative Director Amina Aranaz-Alunan, Zacarias 1925 Creative Director Rita Nazareno, celebrity stylist Sidney Yap, and more.
Classes open next month! So if you’re interested, head on over to SoFA’s website to find out how you can sign up.
