Think of evening gowns and party dresses and all your glitziest, sparkliest fashion fantasies probably come to mind. There's a trend we've sniffed out that totally displaces that mental image, though. Have you noticed that demure, smock-bodiced ivory dresses are stylish local ladies' fave fete 'fits right now?

According to the formidable Merriam-Webster Dictionary, smocking refers to "a decorative embroidery or shirring made by gathering cloth in regularly spaced round tucks." In particular, celebs also seem to favor designer Vania Romoff's piña-spun mastery of the technique:
